It is the worst decision Ive ever made. Our 6 year old unit broke over a month ago. LG has given us several lists of qualified technicians but nobody will work on this product because of its history of breaking. It seems our only remedy is buying another similar unit. I do know it will NOT be an LG.

I bought the fridge in 2017 and the compressor went out two months ago. After spending $150 to diagnosis it local repair shop quoted $1300 labour only to replace the compressor. LG agreed to provide the compressor for free but refused to cover the labour cost. After googling i realized there are a class action against LG for bad compressors. Just google LG compressor class action. I will not buy a LG again.

I am so disappointed in this refrigerator. We moved in to our new home with all new appliances. This refrigerator started losing its freezer about a year ago. It will not get cold. The screen says its at-4 but it will not keep anything frozen. It is bad when new appliances will not last at least 5 to 7 years. I will not buy another LG product.

Decent fridge with some odd design quirks. Sadly it died after 7 years and even with the warranty it would cost nearly $900 to fix the bad compressor and associated parts that the compressor damaged. Ice maker keeps stopping. When I reset I have ti wait 24-48 hrs for ice. Now it has dies completely and I am told it will be $399-$459for a service call PLUS parts labor. Also the phone connection was terrible. It was garbled a lot of static.That combined with a very heavy accent of the person I was talking to made the call very difficult to understand.

I bought this refrigerator 6years ago within 2 years it started to defrost and it lasted 2 days I had to move items out of the freezer until it started to freeze again. There was no help from LG service people fast high pitch talking people that kept repeating the same information over and over again. So this week the unit is 6 years old and the freezer quit again and this time the compressor quit working. LG service did not have any service people to help they did recommend a local repair company and they indicated it would be about 6 to 8 hundred dollars to repair the unit. I decided to trash a 6year old unit and buy a new unit. Will not buy another LG appliance they are pieces of trash.

Fridge is only 4 yrs old and is starting to make this consistent loud knocking sound for hours coming from the left freezer side when you open the door the knocking stops but once you close the door it starts again. The side of the freezer where the sound is coming from is hot LG can do better. Why do they all have compressor issues?

Disappointed in short lifespan of 9 years

This unit gave out after nine years. It lost its refrigerant very quickly in about 2 days I figure. Getting a new compressor wouldnt fix the problem because that seams to be ok. The temps between the compressor inlet outlet and evaporator were all room temperature. Its either refrigerant or compressor either way it will cost half as much as a new one to fix the issue. Also found the thing running more than I think it should have and it was a bit annoying.

Purchased the LG side by side refrigerator / freezer in 08/2015 and needed a new door within a couple of months. The door had a design flaw which caused the water for the ice maker to freeze in the door and stopped working. Replaced under warranty with new door which worked fine until 07/2024. It stopped making ice first and about a week later it stopped cooling the refrigerator and freezing in the freezer. Called out a service technician who stated that the compressor was not working an to contact LG as it was still under warranty. I contacted LG and explained the problem and it was repaired within tow days. This 08/30/2024 and my only concern is the new compressor seems to be running constantly. there are very few times of the day that it is not running. It makes a vibration noise now so I will contact LG to discuss it. Otherwise I am very happy with the purchase.

We bought our new home last year. It was 4 yrs old and the refrigerator was installed new and was what we inherited. It stopped working in June 2024 and getting the needed part and any help has been a complete nightmare. It is August 20 and we are nowhere.

I bought my refrigerator in 2016 and had two major problems. The ice maker broke and the repair/replacement was expensive. Then in August 2024 the compressor apparently stopped pumping cold air. The compressor was still under warranty but I was told that it would cost $750-$1000 to repair. I am a Consumer Reports shopper so I was very disappointed that the fridge only lasted 8 years and had to be replaced given the cost of the potential repair and that your representatives said it would take at least several days to get a new compressor. I chose to replace with a different brand. The diagnostic help from the smart sensor dont recall the exact name was also not helpful--both times saying the door was opened too frequently odd given a household with 2 people who arent in the fridge much. I purchased other LG products and also have had trouble with my washing machine. It now only handles small loads or gets out of balance and keeps refilling. Im very disappointed with the reliability and sturdiness of both products. How is that we used to be able to make refrigerators and wash machines that lasted for 20 or more years? Not sure why it is saying below that I received this product free or at a discounted price--I have not receive anything.

Weve actually had this refrigerator coming on eight years now and its never given us a moments problem until the compressor went out without warning. Overall LG was great about the warranty coverage. My only problem has been how long it has taken to get the part almost two weeks with a broken refrigerator. And not covering labor on a part that is known to go out. Overall is going to cost me $500 to fix. Could be worse I suppose. The fridge itself is great love the features. Love the space.
