Nice refrigerator faulty compressor design

I love this refrigerator. Unfortunately the compressor failed within three years. This was replaced under a class action law suit. I was promised it was an upgraded design and would last the advertised twenty years for this wonderful new compressor design. Exactly four years from replacement date the NEW compressor has failed too LG will honor their warranty and charge you a $400 service fee to replace the compressor Thats almost half the cost of a new refrigerator. They promise this one will definitely last this time Haaa. Im currently debating paying the service charge or going refrigerator shopping. I definitely wont buy an LG refrigerator ever again. Im currently contacting class action attorneys to see if they can help. Ive never had a refrigerator compressor fail on any other brand Ive owned. Only this one and its failed twice

Terrible- Avoid

Terrible product. Broke down after 4 years only and needed to have motor and coils replaced along with ice maker. Stainless steel piece of Garabge. And their support through Asurian is another trash component who are extremely unhelpful in expediting and securing an appointment. The tech they contracted with thinks its okay to show up at 730 pm and work till the wee hours of the night. All around terrible and will be avoiding this brand in the future for the reckless and lacking support theyve provided along with a poor quality machine.

Ice Maker stopped working within 2 years

Ice Maker stopped working consistently after less than 2 years. I had to manually reset it almost daily for it to function. It finally stopped working completely after an additional year. I contacted LG support on Instagram and they told me that it would be $460 to get it repaired. Long story short dont buy LG fridges unless you like having to buy replacement fridges every 2-3 years.

It is the worst decision Ive ever made. Our 6 year old unit broke over a month ago. LG has given us several lists of qualified technicians but nobody will work on this product because of its history of breaking. It seems our only remedy is buying another similar unit. I bought the fridge in 2017 and the compressor went out two months ago. After spending $150 to diagnosis it local repair shop quoted $1300 labour only to replace the compressor. LG agreed to provide the compressor for free but refused to cover the labour cost. After googling i realized there are a class action against LG for bad compressors. Just google LG compressor class action. I will not buy a LG again.

Absolute piece of junk. Compressor died after 4 years 11 months. TG it was one month before the warranty expired or the fridge would need to be trashed. Compressor part of a closed system so need an official LG technician to repair. Took over a WEEK to get a LG person out to fix it. A WEEK without a fridge. Will never purchase a LG appliance agin

LG service wants to charge a flat rate of $400 labor for somebody to come out and replace their faulty compressor that I would have no expectations that would last. Just sad that the compressor only lasted 4 years and 11 months. Glad there was a 5 year warranty because otherwise would have had to junk the thing at year 5. Do not waste your money. I am so disappointed in this refrigerator. We moved in to our new home with all new appliances. This refrigerator started losing its freezer about a year ago. It will not get cold. The screen says its at-4 but it will not keep anything frozen. It is bad when new appliances will not last at least 5 to 7 years. I will not buy another LG product.

Decent fridge with some odd design quirks. Sadly it died after 7 years and even with the warranty it would cost nearly $900 to fix the bad compressor and associated parts that the compressor damaged. First the ice maker had to be replaced after 5 years costing $500. Then the compressor broke the following year and although it is covered by warranty it would be $600 - $900 to install it and no guarantee as to how long it would take possibly 7-10 days to receive the part. LG refrigerator techs are hard to find as they cant get the parts I was told when I called. I bought a new GE fridge instead and hope my 6 month old LG W/D doesnt break down.

A refrigerator doesnt last 4 years when made by LG. Also had problems with my LG dishwasher. Just all around disappointed I was ever introduced to LG product line.

Ice maker keeps stopping. When I reset I have ti wait 24-48 hrs for ice. Now it has dies completely and I am told it will be $399-$459for a service call PLUS parts labor. Also the phone connection was terrible. It was garbled a lot of static.That combined with a very heavy accent of the person I was talking to made the call very difficult to understand.

Shelves in freezer frequently drop Ice maker stops working often. Needs to be reset then it takes 24-48 hours to get ice.

We loved this fridge but that is only when it works. After 5 years the compressor has gone out and would cost $700+ to fix. Common issue with LG and dont plan to look at others with them even though I like some features.

I bought this refrigerator 6years ago within 2 years it started to defrost and it lasted 2 days I had to move items out of the freezer until it started to freeze again. There was no help from LG service people fast high pitch talking people that kept repeating the same information over and over again. So this week the unit is 6 years old and the freezer quit again and this time the compressor quit working. LG service did not have any service people to help they did recommend a local repair company and they indicated it would be about 6 to 8 hundred dollars to repair the unit. I decided to trash a 6year old unit and buy a new unit. Will not buy another LG appliance they are pieces of trash.

I bought an LG side by side refrigerator and and dishwasher when we remodeled our kitchen. It was one of the worst mistakes of the remodel. The ice maker needs constant repairs and the dishwasher is just ok. I dont use the 3rd row top shelf because nothing on top dries.

Fridge is only 4 yrs old and is starting to make this consistent loud knocking sound for hours coming from the left freezer side when you open the door the knocking stops but once you close the door it starts again. The side of the freezer where the sound is coming from is hot LG can do better. Why do they all have compressor issues?

Freezer not working as before and they wanted to put a hold in my credit card before sending a techincian. Item has proven problem with their compressor there are no error codes but it seems they care more for payment than customer satisfaction. Lousy LG.

After 1 year of buying the product the condenser gave up and was repaired a it was still under warranty. The same issue happened exactly 5 years after. I paid $1900 for the product and now have to pay $516 for them to repair it. Complete waste of money.
