Just recently tore the door off the microwave. The front face fulled away from the microwave and ended up breaking the plastic underbody. Screws and bits everywhere. Still works... yay.

Bought this LG microwave for $379.99 and it worked fine for 4 years. However it stopped working and LG wants to charge $400 for repairs. This is frustrating as the microwave only lasted 4 years and now Im being asked to pay more than the original cost for repairs. Definitely not the quality I expected for a product at this price. Will not be buying from LG again.

Like so many others left bad reviews the Flickering display board This is the third time The first time the replaced the whole unit because board was not available. Second time the replaced the board which failed again few months later. The unit is out of the one year warranty It is clearly a manufactured defect of the microwave with constant complaints from most customers. Would not recommend it. LG MUST ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM AND REPLACE ALL FIALED BOARDS REGARDLESS IF STILL IN WARRANTY OR NOT.

The microwave oven is not terrible but it does have issues. Most problematic is the clock/timer display that flickers. The flickering came on gradually and by the time it became annoying the warranty period was up. Also the amount of pressure needed when pressing the buttons is noticeably more than expected based on experience with previous microwaves. You have to press hard to make sure the oven senses the press.

Owned this microwave for only 2 years and I have replaced the digital display three times and the one currently installed began flickering within two months. I purchased a kitchen suite of LG appliances and I am so frustrated LG will not replace a defective part after so many failures. The display suffers from poor design and/or poor quality manufacturing. LG should pay the cost to have these displays replaced not their customers.

The LG LMV1831SS microwave I have was manufactured in 12/2021 and is 2 years and 10 months old as of this review. At less 1 year old the display began to flicker. This has gradually grown worse and is now at the point where all digits flicker rapidly. The microwave will still function but it is unsightly and clumsy to use for timer functions etc. After looking at this microwave a repairman stated that he could not get parts for this unit for that bit of information I was out 200 dollars.
The only way that I believe LG can make this situation right is to replace it with an equivalent unit free of charge to me including installation labor.
Right now I would never recommend an LG brand of appliance to anyone. I would have left a 0-star review but that option was not available.
I doubt that anyone from LG will reply but this review includes my email.

Purchased the microwave stove and fridge. The microwave display has not worked correctly since day one. The numbers for the clock just make circles. Now part of the display doesnt work. Complete garbage. The stove has had issues since day one. You cant use the oven with the timer because it just turns off randomly. Service guy said it is an issue with the main control board. He said he only gets used boards so if he replaced it we might have other issues. LG said we should just buy a timer and not use that feature. Never buying LG garbage again.

After about 1.2 years the clock on my microwave started flickering. Its getting progressively worse the numbers are less visible. My stove has the same issue. They need to improve the digital clock display. I would not recommend an LG appliances.

We purchased our microwave 1 year ago. It has worked great since day one. However 9 months in the digits showing time would flicker constantly in the background So it was noticeable but faint. I called for warranty service and they were very quick and helpful They tried trouble shooting with me but in th end needed to schedule a service call. He cam and replaced the panel within 15 minutes at no charge and now all is good. I like the product the company and its service organization.

Before the warranty was up it had to be fixed. Now it is a little over 2 years old and it doesnt work at all. The first thing that was repaired under warranty is happening again and it doesnt heat anything. I have been waiting for weeks to get LG to send a repairman in case it is the magnetron. I am extremely disappointed.

The long piece above the door is attached to the microwave by cheap plastic. Heat from the stove ruins the connection which makes the long piece come off. After paying for a replacement part because the warranty had just ended the replacement part also broke off. Im using makeshift parts from local hardware store to keep it together.

The microwave functions good. The issue with this product is the piece directly above the door connects to the microwave using cheaply made plastic connectors that are screwed in. Those pieces break due to heat and because they are plastic. I replaced the piece as it was just one year originally buying the microwave and the warranty didnt apply. The replacement piece also broke within a month. I would not purchase this particular microwave this is your warning.

I would give this unit a zero if I could. It is cheaply constructed and didnt last a year. Unfortunately for me due to renovation it was two months old prior to install so out of warranty.. NEVER AGAIN.

I bought this microwave approximately 1 1/2 years ago and the LED Display has failed twice. 1st it was fixed under the warranty and now LG refuses to replace w/o charging me for parts and labor. The microwave itself works fine its just the display continues to fail.

We had a LG microwave before and it went out before 2 years. We are trying another one and it seems like this is an updated version of our last one. It is an under the cabinet model and the inside seems lower then the other one which makes it easier to reach inside. Also the ending tone is much quieter and the lights seem brighter. Weve only had it for 2 days so havent used many features but these stood out. Great Job LG

I bought this August 2021 and it had display flickering for a while but I thought it was my eyesight. I finally started taking videos with my phone and checking them and yes indeed the display goes wacky every now and then. Other than that it works great.

If you dont have a light on in the kitchen you cant see the panel. It is not back-lit. Also the panel is stiff and so it is difficult to set a time of use any other function without really pressing hard.

The microwave is attractive and well built with easy cleaning. We use this several times a day so it gets a workout.
The only problem we had was it just stopped working. After a call to LG a tech appointment was made quickly and easily. The tech we had was here in just 2days and right on time.
He came in and had it figured out in just a few minutes went out to his van came back with the part and was back up and running again. Very professional and neat.

I like the printless stainless steel finish which matches our frig and dishwasher. The user panel is not on the door which I prefer. It is easy to operate if you have ever used a microwave before. The inside is easy to clean but is brown not white. We prefer white but brown is ok. The damper assy is rather flimsy and the installer had a difficult time installing it. I am still not sure the damper is opening like it should.. other than the damper it is working great.

The keypad screen in the product image is bright and crisp. This is absolutely not the case.
If you have a dark kitchen are installing in an area with adjacent windows that cause reflection have sight impairments relative to age or disability this keypad will be an issue.
Our only solution is to attempt to find a stick-on mini down light.

Thirteen years ago when we renovated our kitchen we happily installed all new LG appliances. I wont get into the problems weve had with the refrigerator and oven at this place and time but we were always extremely happy with the over-the-range microwave. Recently it just died without any warning on Thanksgiving eve but at least it had a good run. We replaced it with the LG LMV1831SS. When we saw it on display in Best Buy there was no way to plug it in. So we were very surprised when we installed it at home and tried to use it for the first time.
I do not have super vision like Superman and so I cannot see what any of the buttons are for unless the kitchen is fully lit up. The clock on the top of the display is lit up like the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree but nothing else is Not only that but the buttons are not very sensitive and I find myself pushing hard on them to make them work. Its aggravating and frustrating.
If you see the photo of the microwave online the buttons are nice and clear almost like they are backlit. That is not the case Very misleading They are totally dark. I swear that theres a film over the buttons to keep the area looking new and I keep trying to pry up the corner of the film so I can see the buttons better but thats not the case at all. Its just that poorly designed. My old microwave was so much better
The second thing Im unhappy about is not as important but very disappointing nonetheless. When I close the door of the microwave the sound is very tinny and it gives the impression of a cheap appliance. I know microwaves are hollow but the door of my last LG microwave gave a nice solid thud when it closed.
I havent yet tried using the included metal tray for microwaving multiple items at once but Im hoping it turns out to be a useful feature.
I also havent yet used the vent and probably wont. The only problem I had with my last LG microwave was that the vent sent all the greasy air straight up to the upper cabinets and ceiling without removing much grease. I would even get straight lines of grease on the ceiling that matched the shape of the vents. But I dont suppose much can be done about that when there is no way to install an outdoor vent.
I hate that LG cheapened the new designs and hope they return to better quality.

We just bought an entire set of LG appliances. I love all of them sooo much...BUT I am extremely disappointed with this microwave
The LG photos advertising it show bright legible numbers and words but in person they are hardly legible Even in bright light I cannot read these words
I ended up overcooking something. I tried to stop the cooking but couldnt find the button because I couldnt see the words So this IS a problem
Its not an issue at all with the stove. I see those numbers and words completely clearly but this microwave has GREY words on black See photo to see both displays.
When I purchased this I was sure the words would be lit up but NOTHING I asked for support and all they said was Sorry this is the design.
Feeling disappointed and very frustrated.
